THE JOURNEY OF THE CAKE GIRL
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
STARTED FROM SCRATCH
It all started with a desire, her hero, and the right core values. The Cake Girl concept started in 2008 by Kristina Lavallee. Growing up in Puerto Rico, Kristina had the amazing opportunity to team up with her “hero” and Mother, Margarita Perez, who is a professional Chef by trade. Hundreds of trips to the grocery store for ingredients and several messy kitchen cleanups later, Kristina as a young girl started to form the foundation of her award winning recipes that are enjoyed at The Cake Girl today. And as you can imagine, there were no shortcuts allowed in the kitchen. The dream was to one day have her own business and Margarita laid the solid foundation for success.
GETTING THE FIRST SLICE
STRONG FOUNDATION
Kristina attended the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality Management and graduated with two bachelor degrees in Hospitality Management and Food Service & Restaurant Management. Through her training and education she gained valuable experience and connected with some of the top industry leaders, all of which has prepared her for the journey ahead. Kristina and her husband Kirby, also a UCF grad, teamed up and got married (at UCF of course! Go Knights!), the rest is history!
Sweet Fact: Kirby asked Kristina to be his girlfriend at the UCF Reflection Pond, in 2012 Kirby asked Kristina to marry him at the UCF Reflection Pond, and then in 2013 they tied the knot at UCF where it all started :)
THE START OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL
LET'S GO
After graduation, Kristina took the business on the road! What started as Kristina hauling a tent and her products to farmers markets and festivals quickly turned into a mobile dessert truck that was driven all over the State of Florida. Demand continued to grow and the truck quickly became too small and it was time to launch The Cake Girl into a brick and mortar bakery.
OUR FIRST STORE
REFINING OUR PRESENCE
Just like every great recipe, you refine it until it’s perfect. After sifting through locations to launch the first brick and mortar bakery, Kristina chose Tampa, FL to open the first store. In June of 2019 the ribbon was cut and the custom cake landscape in Tampa was forever changed. Kristina and Kirby, dove right into making The Cake Girl a well recognized brand in Tampa and beyond.

WEEKLY ROTATING FLAVORS
Each and every week, the flavor selection gets sweeter! With over 80 handcrafted options on the menu, The Cake Girl rotates 12 new cupcake flavors weekly in the bakery. And if that isn’t enough to satisfy your sweet tooth… The Cake Girl offers custom options by special order :) All of our cakes and cupcakes are made from scratch daily in our bakery and each and every cake is crafted with your specifications in mind. Our team of imaginative decorators can take your vision to the next level.

The Cake Girl offers nationwide shipping of our Crave’n Cups, which is our hand layered cake jars that have all the ingredients you know and love!
