Holiday Joy for Heroes: The Cake Girl Supports Veterans Through Expanded "Fill the Van" Initiative

At The Cake Girl, the holiday season is all about spreading joy, kindness, and gratitude. This year, we’re proud to announce a special addition to our annual Fill the Van initiative—supporting the incredible veterans at Liberty Manor for Veterans in Tampa Bay. These heroes have served our country selflessly, and now it’s our turn to show them they’re never forgotten.

Honoring Veterans with Essential Gifts

On a crisp December day, The Cake Girl’s founder, Kristina Lavallee, and her team arrived at Liberty Manor in style—a fully restored AM General HUMVEE, generously provided by our friend and military supporter, Stephen Garcia. The vehicle wasn’t just eye-catching; it was filled with the holiday spirit and essential supplies to make a meaningful difference.

Inside the HUMVEE were toiletries, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, and $250 in gift cards, all donated to support the daily needs of veterans at Liberty Manor. These thoughtful gifts are more than just items—they’re a reminder to our veterans that their service is appreciated and that their community stands behind them.

Liberty Manor for Veterans, located at 10015 N. 9th St., Tampa, FL, provides housing and resources to homeless veterans, helping them find stability and hope. Supporting their mission was a natural fit for The Cake Girl’s vision of giving back to the community.

Expanding Fill the Van

Each year, our Fill the Van initiative brings together the Tampa Bay community to donate toys and essentials for local children in need. But this year, we wanted to do more. By including veterans in the campaign, we’re honoring a group that often goes unrecognized during the holiday season.

The military’s powerful motto, “Leave no man behind,” guided us in expanding this initiative. These veterans have given so much to protect our freedoms, and we’re committed to ensuring they feel valued and supported—not just during the holidays, but all year long.

Year-Round Giving at The Cake Girl

While the holiday season is a special time for giving, our commitment to serving the community never stops. Throughout the year, The Cake Girl partners with local organizations, first responders, and military families to bring moments of joy and gratitude. Whether it’s through our Random Acts of Sweetness or supporting causes like Liberty Manor, we’re dedicated to making a difference.
